A return ticket usually shows travel back to the origin or home country. An onward ticket may show travel to another destination. Which one is appropriate depends on the route, visa type and official checklist.
When travelers may need onward or return travel proof
Some visa applications or travel situations ask applicants to show how they intend to leave the destination before a stay ends. A reservation document may help show planned onward or return travel, but it should never be treated as a guarantee of acceptance by any authority.
